About Sam

An actor with a diverse and steadily growing body of work, this performer’s journey began in rural Washington state where navigating the challenges of being mixed in a predominantly white community (98%) helped sharpen his adaptability. Living in low-income housing, he often found himself acting out of necessity—even at the grocery store, where he would pretend to forget an item to avoid the stigma of paying with food stamps. These early experiences with adapting to different situations laid the groundwork for his future in acting.

His first taste of the stage came through Missoula Children’s Theater in sixth grade, but it was in high school, under the guidance of Diana Mickelson, that he truly embraced his talent. In a small theater program, he quickly took on lead roles, and after a teacher suggested he pursue acting professionally, he set his sights on Los Angeles.

Early on, he booked co-star roles on 90210, Just Jordan, and Nip/Tuck, gaining experience on television. However, realizing the need for deeper training, he enrolled at Playhouse West, where he studied under Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum. It was during his time at Playhouse West that he booked the award-winning short film Insides of a Lamb, a role that earned him Best Actor at the Burbank International Film Festival, further solidifying his presence in the industry.

Seeking to deepen his emotional range, he continued his training at Ivana Chubbuck’s Acting Studio, where teachers like Ben Davis and Frantz Turner (RIP) helped refine his craft. Under Ivana Chubbuck's method, which encourages actors to draw from personal experience, he unlocked new depths in his performances, eventually joining her master class.

His first significant professional role came in D-Day, where he played a medic coming of age in the chaos of battle, working alongside Weston Cage (son of Nicolas Cage), Martin Kove, Chuck Liddell, and Randy Couture. This role, though not a breakout, was a pivotal step in his career, offering him the opportunity to work with an accomplished cast and prove his ability to bring complexity to a supporting role.

Building on that momentum, he delivered a standout performance in Into the Valley, which earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the Simi Valley International Film Festival. He continued to expand his range with a lead role in the Emma Series, where he portrayed the villain, demonstrating his ability to tackle darker, more intricate characters. His striking green eyes and versatile skill set have continued to set him apart in a competitive industry.

With training from esteemed teachers such as Diana Mickelson, Robert Carnegie, Jeff Goldblum, Ben Davis, Frantz Turner, and Ivana Chubbuck, he has built a foundation of authenticity and emotional depth. Whether on television, in film, or on stage, he brings a distinct presence and commitment to every role, making him an actor whose career continues to rise.

What else do you do?

I’m a creative.

I’m the lead designer and builder for an art project conceived by David Neuman: an old western movie theater (akin to the one in The Last Picture Show) called the Black Rock Bijou. Against all norms, we positioned the installation at the furthest, most desolate area of the Burning Man Festival, choosing not to be placed on any map or event schedule. Many leave the festival without even knowing there was a fully functional movie theater showing black-and-white classics carefully chosen to align with the theme that year. The weary wanderer often approaches the building as if it were a mirage, in complete disbelief. The Bijou has become a Burning Man staple over the years, making appearances in Smithsonian Magazine, CNN, SF Gate, and more.

During the height of the pandemic in 2020, I angrily created the world’s first PillowWeight—a weighted insert for outdoor pillows in windy areas. Frustrated with constantly chasing pillows around at my Airbnb in Joshua Tree, I looked online for a quick fix and found nothing but emotional rants on Reddit. The pandemic provided the spare time to play around, and voila! PillowWeights can now be found in luxury hotels, yachts, and backyards all over the country.
